Artist’s Statement
Starting in 2002, I have been producing watercolor, colored pencil, and acrylic paintings for exhibition, along with public and private commissions around the United States, Canada, and Australia. Born in New York in The United States and educated in The Liberal Arts, I discovered my love for art following a scuba diving accident in 2000 when I took my first watercolor class to help my brain adjust to eye-hand coordination. By 2008 while continuing with my artistic studies, I found my real passion in art as soon as I was exposed to the relationship between art, science, and nature through scientific botanical illustration. I began scientific botanical illustration studies at the Sarasota Florida School of Botanical Art, with courses at The Ringling College of Art and Design, all in Sarasota, Florida. I completed my Botanical studies at The Minnesota School of Botanical Art, where I was able to participate in and be accepted into The Florilegium at The Eloise Butler Garden, the oldest Public Wildflower Garden in The United States, I was honored to participate in civic art, chosen to design the 130 feet x 30 feet Botanical Painting on the Jungle Theater Building in downtown Minneapolis. Minnesota. I am enjoying a recent interest in Narrative painting.
