I began painting botanicals in 2008 after being inspired by their incredible beauty and attention to detail. My extensive career teaching drawing, painting, etching and photography was fabulous preparation for the disciplined approach required by this genre. Workshops at the New York Botanical Gardens were very helpful in optimizing my interests and techniques. Though colored pencil is my preferred medium I also enjoy working in watercolor, graphite and pen and ink. I typically choose wild and cultivated specimens found around my homes in Pennsylvania and Florida. The evolution of contemporary botanical art constantly challenges my imagination, ability and creativity.
Along with the ASBA and the FSBA, my professional affiliations include the Colored Pencil Society of America(CPSA), and the Doylestown Conservatory Artist’s Guild. My paintings have been displayed in juried exhibitions and galleries in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, California and Florida. I am a featured artist in CP Hidden Treasures IV, and Colorful Edibles, a publication of the ASBA.
